My experience with the blog

When I first applied for english III this semester, I never imagined that I would have to write these 10 blogs about different subjects. At first, I was a little surprised, but as I was writing, reading tue blogs from my classmates and the teacher, I kind of liked it. Because with these blogs I learned a little more about   me, my likes, my way of writing, I remembered old experiences, and I asked myself things I would have never asked. I think the blogs, as a form of manifestation, are way better than other social medias, like instagram or Facebook. They show you the perspective of its writer, how they look at things, their feelings or sensations about a lot of different things. You get to know deeply the mind and life of its writer. Their favorite show, favorite food, the subjects their are interested in, and even their answer to that so simple yet so complex question, Who are we?   Writing a blog, in my experience, was fun and surprising at the same time. Fun, becau...

My favorite food

It is so difficult now to decide which is my favorite food. If I had been asked 2 months ago, I would have picked ceviche without a second thought. ¿But now? I became a vegetarian, mainly out of love and health. Now my favorite food I think is Lasagna, obviusly vegetarian lasagna. The vegetarian version of the lasgna replaces the meat for vegetables. My favorite one is with cream, mushrooms, milk and cheese. It also has tomato sauce, but also with smashed tomatos, peppers, onions, garlic and different species. All of this combined with the pasta in different capes, and toped with grated cheese. I think it is one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. My mom has cooked us lasagna since we where kids, so I believe that besides its awesome taste, it reminds me of my chilhood. So, for me, lasgna is a family plate, of encounter, laughs and conversations. Lasgna is one of the best things in the world!

The mass media

A subject of interest for me this semester has been   the rol that mass media plays in society. First, in university, specifically on the class "study pf political phenomena", we studied the theory of theass media and its role on democratic societies. It was incredible how trough many arguments, different authors proposed the influence of mass media. From how they interfered on the public opinion, the perception of the public about different events, and on the power games of the different authorities. On the other hand, also in university, but this time in the class "Methodology of investigation", we saw and examined a documentary about the mass media, and how, on practice, influenced in big ways our actions, perceptions and thoughts. A clear example of the big role mass media plays on the documentary, it was how trough the years the increment of news concretely about crimes, murders and robberies, caused a growth on the sentiment of insecurity in the popu...

Career-related Website

One of the first apps that helped me to study or finish a task in college was “Periódicos chilenos”. An app in which all the newspapers from Chile gather, being updated daily by each newspaper or its writers. “Periódicos chilenos”, its available on the app store, for free, and does not use much of the phone’s memory. It is of easy access and very user friendly. It has a wide range of categories to search for newspapers, like regional newspapers, the ones dedicated to economy, politics, sports, fashion, etc. And it also has a section to visualize all the front pages from the different newspapers. On the other hand, one of its biggest disadvantages is that you cannot use it without an internet connection. So, if you do not have mobile data or any Wi-Fi near you, it is impossible to use. However, even with this disadvantage, I totally recommend this app, especially for those who need to be constantly updated on the Country’s actuality.

My favorite writer

One of my favorite writers is Megan Maxwell, a Spanish writer born in Nuremberg (Germany) in the year 1965. Her writing mainly focuses on the romantic genre, especially on the subgenre “chick lit”.   She has influences from American romantic authors like Rachel Gibson, Susan Elizabeth or Julie Garwood. The first book that she published was called “It was just a silly kiss”, on the year 2010. Even though it had not the same success as her later work, this was the novel that started her career as a writer. The first book I read from her was “Ask me anything you want”, this book is mainly about a love story between a girl and a multimillionaire business man. Though the story may have been a little cliché at times, what definitely caught me was her writing style and the way she told these stories. From the humor and simplicity of the story, to the ability of making you feel related to the protagonist and its problems, she made her way into my list of favorite writers pretty qui...
