A future postgraduate course

I find it very difficult to think of a postgraduate course, since I would not know which topic to choose. I would like to study many subjects. However, if now in the second year of my career I was asked what graduate degree I would take, it would be about Public Policy (although I'm not sure). The postgraduate course in Public Policies has duration of two years and has a study plan specialized in the design and implementation of public policies. His areas of study are economics, ethics, research, project evaluation and obviously, public policies. His subjects are very varied.   The truth is that I don't have a very concrete idea of why to study this postgraduate course. But I think that public policies and everything that has to do with them is too important for our career. Its design, implementation and evaluation are keys to solve any public problem.   I would love to study this postgraduate course in another country. I believe that having studies abroad and th...

My future job

The truth, choosing what I want to do after studying, I find it very difficult. I’m interested in three important topics related to the career: disability, environment and social development. The job of my dreams would be the one that combined these three things. However, if I had to choose now a job related to any of subjects, it would definitely be a job related to disability. It is a very sensitive subject for me, and something that I think really needs to be know and developed. In the last time, for various things, I have known disability in many ways. And I would love, as one of my life's dreams, to be able to work on that and change the lives of many people. I have not thought much about the details of my future work, but I would like to work in an international organization where I can generate great changes and obviously, where I can travel a lot and know many places. I have thought about working in very large organizations, such as the ONU or CEPAL, but I think t...

What are you really into lately?

Lately (to be honest the last two weeks), I’ve been wondering what I’m going to do after studying. I’ve been in the program for two years and I worry too much what I’m going to do. I’m going to work? I will continue studying? I don´t know. A week ago my statistics teacher told us that our biggest competition were not other public administrators, but commercial engineers and industrial engineers. This worried me too much. My labor competitors are triple that before. What was going to be my added value? How am I going to face the work force? I have been talking with other colleagues on this subject and we have reached the same conclusion. First, we have to learn English to be “workers of the world”. And secondly, we must study other areas that make us better than the rest. With my friends we have looked for courses and studies on programs such as Stata or SPSS and digital marketing. Recently on Instagram I found “Desafiolatam”, which gives the option to enroll in various courses....

The most embarrasing thing I am willing to admit

If I had to write about some shameful situation or moment that I have had throughout my life, I think I would never finish writing.   I am too clumsy. I think one of the first moments I remember was when I broke my coccyx. I was 14 years old, I wasn´t such a smart teenager, and obviously I decided to play a game and fall on my back a few seconds after playing. But what game am I talkin about? It is a secret that I will take to the grave. It’s too shameful. However, the most embarrasing thing of all was not the fall, but everything that happened after that. For a year I had to use a special cushion to sit, be careful when walking, sleep in a special way to not feel so much pain and not play sports. In summary, I did nothing for a whole year. My advice for these types of situations? Laugh, laugh a lot, raise your forehead and keep moving forward as if there was no tomorrow. They are stories to tell someday.

My favorite vacation

My favorite vacations were when I toured Aysén in the summer of year 2017. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I spent a month bagpacking with two friends in the Aysén region. We start in a small village called “Guadal” and end up in the city of Coyhaique. The idea of the trip was mainly to travel without having plans of where to stay or how to get to the places we wanted to visit. I think it was the most entertaining of the trip. One of the things that I liked, in addition to the great and beautiful landscapes, was to meet wonderful people along the way. People from the area and foreigners who added entertainment and fun to our trip. It was incredible. One of my favorite places of the trip was a town village called “Caleta Tortel”. It is a village made entirely of wood, which has no streets or passages. It is only a village accompanied by nature, water and its people. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever met.
